Easter Bunny from Tavern on the Green
Easter is almost here and it reminded me of the Easter weekend that Warren and I spent in New York City before we were married. New Yorkers really know how to celebrate Easter!
We stayed at the Stanhope (which I think is now a condominium property) on the upper east side across from the Met. It was a beautiful weekend, well except for the rain...It was April after all. We decided to have Easter brunch at Tavern on the Green, however because we booked it late we could only get a 10:30 am reservation. It hadn't started raining yet on Easter morning so we walked across Central Park and watched the kids do their Easter Egg Hunt - it was a huge event and the kids were having a blast!
We arrived at Tavern on the Green and it was decorated for Easter, with the Easter Bunny giving out gifts and clowns entertaining the kids. All the ladies were dressed in their Easter outfits and hats. The children all cleaned up wearing their new dresses and suits.
The food was good, but the Easter cheer was what made the brunch that more special. I mentioned to Warren that it wasn't fair that only the kids got the stuffed easter bunny toys. He agreed and was my hero and went and asked the Easter Bunny for one for me. That yellow Easter bunny still sits in my office to this day!
The rain started pouring down after brunch so we took a horse and buggy ride to the Met and spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around the Met. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.
This was one of our favorite Easters together ever!
