The Swimming Hole
We spend three weeks of every summer in Waitsfield, Vermont. Not only is the weather great (warm days, cool nights) it is completely relaxing. We spend our days hiking, biking, catching frogs and salamanders, and shopping at the farmer's market or local farm stands for amazing produce.
But perhaps the best thing about our stays in Vermont are our trips to the swimming hole. Situated at a gorgeous bend in the river, this is the best place to spend a summer afternoon. We swim in the cold clear water, collect rocks, and build sandcastles. Time slows down and often we spend an entire afternoon there without realizing that we've done so.
What makes our trips to Vermont so special to me is that it's a true old-fashioned family vacation - nothing fancy, just lots of natural beauty, good food, and family togetherness. I highly recommend it.
