Singapore Flyer

The Flyer is the largest observation wheel in the world. What does that mean exactly? It is the largest Ferris wheel built to give visitors a 360 panoramic view of the city. We had never been on a Flyer before in other cities, as for the most part they were in the process of being built when we visited them. So we knew that we wanted to visit this one. But of course we wanted to do it a special way so we did the Sky Dining Experience.

Singapore Flyer

There are many ways to experience this attraction. You can get admission with your attraction pass, take a tour that includes admission to the Flyer, or pre purchase your admission from Viator, or do what we did - Enjoy the Flyer Sky Dining experience.

Here are some more photos of the Flyer and our evening - we were lucky as we got to see fireworks once the sun went down!

This attraction is ranked #7 and 4 stars for attractions on TripAdvisor, with over 100 reviews.

Singapore Flyer - Tips and Tricks

Each flight is usually one time around and lasts about 30 minutes. If you take a special flight then you may have more than one rotation. It is a great attraction for kids or a romantic evening out.

Some more tips:

  • Choose a quieter day - avoid weekends
  • Choose to do the dining experience, or the champagne/cocktail experience - you get to bypass the lines - but these are done at set times.
  • Choose a clear day or you may not see much
  • If you are unfamiliar with the city then hire and audio guide
  • Try to time it during fireworks if you can - they are spectacular from this view
  • The line can be up to 3 hours long, so plan accordingly

As I mentioned earlier, we did the dining experience. We chose the earlier one as we wanted to see the view during the day and the evening. So we got to watch the sun set and enjoy the view in the evening as well.

Some people say that the view is better and higher from the Marina Bay Sands Skypark. We did both. The view was similar, but the experience was much different. We really enjoyed both and I would recommend both. The Skypark is very crowded and it is hard to get good photos without people in it, but the view and the view of the pool at the Skypark is amazing. If you have time and the budget, I would recommend both.

The Flyer is a great vacation idea for families or couples when visiting. Click here for their website, but I find the prices to be better if you purchase your tickets with part of a tour, and attraction pass or from Viator before you arrive.
