Themed Vacations for Kids
If sitting on a beach or visiting amusement parks are not part of your next family holiday, we have gathered a some ideas to consider. What about a trip themed completely on your favorite family movie? Or your family's favorite music? Or do your kids like to be scared? Take them on a Ghost Tour... What about a Learning vacation (don't worry they will still have fun - it is fun and educational!) or a make a difference with a Volunteer Vacation? Take out your creativity cap, call a family meeting and come up with a themed vacation!
Vacations for Kids - Movie ToursWe are big movie buffs. In fact on our first trip together, Warren and I decided to go to New York - because of the movie "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" - and to Washington DC after we watched "Murder at 1600" with Wesley Snipes. We stayed at the Plaza, and through a series of events (and upgrades due to hotel mistakes) we ended up staying in the same type of suite that main character Kevin stayed in. Of course we had to order the "Home Alone Sundae" from the room service menu just like he did. When we took our family vacation to Australia, we realized that Warren's favorite movie - "The Matrix" series - was filmed in Sydney! I found Sydney Movie Tours and asked if she could do a walking tour based mainly on Matrix. We watched the movie again before the tour (Montana had not seen it yet) so it was fresh in our minds. It was SO much fun. Check out our Travel Journal Entry here. We also took pictures and video - see it here. Is your family Harry Potter fans? What about a Harry Potter Tour through England? Twilight Fans? - What about a tour of Forks Washington? What great vacations for kids then to take them to their favorite "fictional" places! All over the world tour companies in cities are creating movie or TV tours. California or course has movie set tours like the Warner Bros studio tour or the Universal Studio Tour.
We did the Warner Bros Studio Tour in November of 2009 and loved it! We really
felt it was worth the time and money. We got to see the Friends set, the Ellen
Show set and really got to see how they produce movies and television. See the

I have done Ghost tours in London, England , Salem, Massachusetts, and Port Arthur in Tasmania, Australia. It doesn't matter where you are, if your kids like the spooky and scary part of life - ahem I mean death - then create a vacation where you tour ghostly areas.
