Recently we spent a wonderful romantic weekend at the Atlantis Bahamas on Paradise Island.

After a long and icky January and February in Toronto, we wanted to go somewhere were we could enjoy some sunshine, some great meals, some fun and of course a bit of gaming in a casino.
We chose Atlantis as it was only a 3 hours flight from Toronto, it offered sunshine, and a casino. We had been to the casino before during a port of call on a number of cruises, including the Norwegian Dawn, but had only ever gotten as far as the casino as we didn't want to pay the "day fees" to use the facilities. We didn't know what the big deal was. Now we know and will advise others to get a day pass if they want to see Atlantis.
We stayed at the Cove, as we did our research, and we liked the idea of having a quieter area to retreat too is we wanted to. It was the right choice for us.
We had some great meals (especially at the Cafe Martinique), had a blast in the water park, played in the casino, enjoyed the Atlantis aquarium, had treatments in the Mandara Spa and gawked at how expensive most things are.
Atlantis is set up so you never have to leave it. And we didn't, except to shop in town one afternoon.
You can access all that Atlantis has to offer if you buy a day pass, stay at a local hotel that offered access to Atlantis, or if you stay as a guest in one of the many Atlantis hotels or condos.
In fact that the only way you can even see the water park, aquarium, beaches etc is with a room key, daily wristband or a day pass. If you are visiting on a port of call from a cruise ship, apparently it will run you over $100 a day per person. This may or may not include lunch.
Did you enjoy your time at the Atlantis in the Bahamas? Was their a particular restaurant you really liked? Do you have some advice to offer based on your experience at the Atlantis Resort?
Would you advise others to avoid a particular part of the Atlantis Resort?
Are you considering a trip to the Atlantis on Paradise Island and have a question or 2?

Cafe Martinique

Cafe Martinique was recommended to us on a recent trip to Atlantis Bahamas. We were a little worried as we aren't fans of French food - at least French ...
New York City, Hawaii, Las Vegas, or California. There are so many excellent destinations and ideas for romance in the United States.
